ROBERTOWN, or Robert-Town, a chapelry in Birstall parish

 

Roberttown All Saints

Roberttown All Saints was in 1875 constituted a separate ecclesiastical parish.
The church of All Saints in erected in 1845, is a building in the Early English style, consisting of chancel and nave, with a bell-cot at the west-end containing two bells; the east window of three lights is a memorial to the Rev H. Walton, incumbent of this church in 1845-1846 and was placed in 1879.
The register dates from 1845. The living is a vicarage, yearly value of £156 with residence in the gift of the vicar of Birstal and held by the Rev John Wannop Nixon of St Bees.

The area is 910 acres; the population in 1871 was 3,045.
